Keeping things strictly underground, House producer Andrew Sant and vocalist Kameelah Waheed join forces on a smoking new single for F*CLR, ‘Love Honor Respect’. Powered by a gritty lo-fi Chi-town jackin house vibe, ‘Love Honor Respect’ has plenty of attitude as Kameelah delivers a truthful and provocative spoken word, armed with a positive message. This rocking package also features a cool instrumental mix and an acapella tool.
Andrew Sant is a Mancunian DJ, producer and remixer who now resides in Adelaide, Australia. The founder of The Sweet Fantastic, releasing ‘Do It To The Music’ on F*CLR, Andrew has also released and remixed on labels such as 3 AM Recordings, Tri-Circle, Tarantic, Kolour Open Bar, and Playmore. His DJ career has taken him around the globe from Sankey’s Soap and the Warehouse Project, Manchester, The Bomb, Nottingham, Miss Moneypenny’s at BoHo, Ibiza.
US Artist Kameelah Waheed was encouraged to consider song writing as a career option when she received an opportunity to write for Bunny Sigler of Philadelphia International Records. Moving forward, Kameelah reached back into her roots of house music and delivered acclaimed singles such as ‘Holding On’ and ‘America the Beautiful’ (North Street West & Bruise remixes). More recently, she worked with Beyonce collaborator and international DJ / producer, Honey Dijon on Defected Records and has a current collaboration out with Wade …. Andrew takes the story from here:
“I was introduced to Kameelah’s work through her 2020 track ‘Holding On’, released on sister label to F*CLR Records, Ramrock Red. She sounded awesome and looked cool AF on the cover. I thought one day I’d like to work with her as I wanted to release a track with a strong message from somebody that really had something to say. Then Kameelah turned things up a notch with Bruise’s remix of ‘America the Beautiful’ which I thought was just incredible. I contacted her to see if she was interested in working with me and she said ‘yes’, so I sent her an instrumental demo and she delivered the vocal that you hear on the record today. The only problem was my music didn’t have the same attitude as her vocal delivery, so I decided to rewrite the music and toughened up the beats and the track turned into this kind of lo-fi Chicago Jack track. Lots of energy and attitude and a bit punk to my ears.”
